For me the ‘holiday season’ starts creeping in right around Halloween. Leaves on the trees become the most gorgeous hues of Autumn, the breeze becomes a bit more crisp, and those organized early shoppers start with the countdown to Christmas. It’s all part of what makes that time of year so special to me. Significant even.

This past holiday season was spent entirely in Kuwait. No trips back home, no holiday decor from aisle to aisle in the stores, and certainly not a chance of snowfall. It was particularly difficult this year. Not only being away from family and friends, but counting down to the day I’ll return. Excitement filled depression I suppose. Or, well, borderline insanity. It’s been tough.

Now that the holiday season has come to a close and we’ve reached the first day of the new year, I’m feeling a huge sense of relief. As I check out Pinterest I’m no longer seeing gorgeous Christmas decor, or New Year’s Eve party ideas, but instead Valentine’s Day gift suggestions and DIY love letters. I’ll be home by then! The depression and sadness are slowly fading as my countdown no longer includes ‘getting through these holidays’. I’ve reached and crossed all those hurdles. We’re down to the final couple of weeks. There’s nothing left to countdown to other than the flight. Whew! I can breathe.

So, as much as I love the ‘holiday season’, I can honestly say I’m relieved it’s over this time around. Now when I look forward it’s towards to final goal and not just one more hurdle to pass. A really nice start to a new year.

Thank you! I also use Google images but have recently wanted to stick to using my own as I work on my photography skills. Bethany is just amazing though! She has a total theme through her blog, instagram, etc. And it defines her well. That’s real talent :) As for using Google images; your blog is entertaining enough that you don’t have to concern yourself with photos.

I’ll definitely continue to blog, tweet, and instagram from the US. It will be fun to share my experiences while still keeping up with everyone here in Kuwait :)
